Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with results like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
