Barça Set to Play First Match at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years since relocating for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans are permitted inside based on approved permits. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
