The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
