Palestinian-American Teenager Released After Nine-Month Period in Israeli Detention

A Palestinian-American adolescent who spent nine months in Israeli detention without being charged has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention last February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.

United States authorities expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.

In a statement, the youth's uncle expressed the family's "immense relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he requires following exposure to harsh conditions and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."

The state department announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration considers paramount to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," officials stated.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the administration, demanding more be done for his freedom.

Mr Ibrahim, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, previously claimed his son only confessed regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited nor direct contact following the detention, and only heard about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

Mohammed was held without charge within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities including killings.

Approximately 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, including UN bodies, say some have suffered abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, family representatives announced relatives would persist in advocating demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by settlement residents during a confrontation last July.

At the time, the Israeli military said officials were investigating information regarding a civilian had died.

The two cousins collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.

No indictments occurred for the cousin's murder.

"We demand United States leadership to ensure our family's safety," family representatives emphasized.
