Reigning Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of Consistency
Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.
She garnered almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
