Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.
And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the names to be evaluated by the club ownership.
The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.
However the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading contender for the position.
The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.
O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock choice given he was released by the club in December last year.
The ex- West Ham midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
