The President Welcomes Families of Shot Guard Members to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Invitation
The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Community members assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to aid policing efforts in DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Actions and Government Changes
Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy prompted the administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi told the program that she planned to speak to the family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” he addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
