The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing violence and insanity with similar glee, all while weaving engaging, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose projects have embodied all of those elements.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a new backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the core of humanity through this intricate and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
