Torrential Downpours Worsen Conditions for Evacuated Gazans, Agencies Warn
Intense precipitation over the last seven days have intensified the already dire living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the territory, according to aid groups.
"Awful" Conditions Brings Grave Threats
A representative characterized the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with downpours so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.
"These conditions was really horrendous for the families. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the winds were so powerful," noted the official.
Authorities voice extreme worry that children living in makeshift shelters in damp garments will succumb to hypothermia and other ailments.
Deaths and Widespread Destruction
The health ministry have stated that one baby has died from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in building collapses triggered by the storms.
Further statements indicate a greater death toll. Officials stated that multiple homes had totally fallen and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

Relief Operations Seen as Insufficient
Organizations have increased deliveries of tents, warm covers and garments after the truce commenced, but they stress there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"We are operating tirelessly to bring in that assistance and to hand it out, but the size of the needs is so vast that we are faced with a great number of people and children who are really struggling every night," stated one spokesperson.
Future Challenges and Ceasefire Plans
The second phase of the agreement encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of troops, and other conditions.
Humanitarian organizations have highlighted the need for "greater and continuous relief to address pressing and long-term needs."
The conflict was initiated by an attack in October 2023. Later actions have caused a high number of casualties in the territory, according to official figures.
