Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
